Good Citizen or Citizen Gone Wild?
Joe Horn has made allegations that two black males were burglarizing his neighbors house and he dialed 911 – which is what most good neighbors would do, but he decided to take his neighborhood watch program to a more extreme level and gunned the two burglars down in cold blood.
While I think the two alleged criminals should have gone to jail and done time for the crimes they committed , Joe Horn did not have the right to kill two human beings over his neighbors property. This is not the wild, wild west and he is not a judge & jury.
There are some protesting these shootings in the Houston area:
Activist Quanell X and dozens of other protesters Sunday faced hundreds of homeowners and supporters of Joe Horn, the Pasadena man who shot and killed two men he suspected of burglarizing a neighbor’s home more than two weeks ago.
Families of the slain men, Miguel Antonio DeJesus, 38, and Diego Ortiz, 30, also were present.
Yard signs lined the 7400 block of Timberline in Pasadena, where the incident took place, as well as on nearby streets.
Residents and Horn supporters waved American flags and carried signs reading, “We love our neighbor for protecting our neighbors” and “Burglary is a risky business.” Read more

Mr. Horn should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for premeditated murder.
What say you?

This is a really peculiar case. Instead of allowing the police to arrive and do their jobs, he told the 911 operator that he was going to kill the guys and he did.
Oh, well, guess they won’t be robbing anyone else, huh?
Sounds like to me this neighbor guy wasn’t quite playing with a full deck.
I guess Mr.Horn was wrong for taking action in something that he wasn’t even supposed to be involved with. But I shed no tears for two dead thieves.
@Lynn – Exactly – he seems like he was itching to show these thieves his own form of justice.
@Mindy – I think he has a full deck, he just assumed that he would get away with murder because some would give him a wink and a nod.
@iron puglist – Welcome and thanks for commenting. Don’t get me wrong I’m not heartbroken about this case, I am however questioning Mr. Horns right to murder two individuals, whether criminals or not.
You have to choose your battles, and this one I choose not. If the two black people turned out to be cousins, then I would be upset, but since they turned out to be criminals I really can care less. Sorry AJ
I mean after the death of Sean Taylor, I almost wish I had a neighbor that would protect me and my household to the extent. Not all white people are racist, and his motives may simply have been I’m not letting these hoodlums get away. Although death is extreme, sometimes Karma happens. Who knows what the intentions of those two robbers were?
@Ms. Grapevine – Don’t get me wrong, I’m not shedding tears for them either. I am however concerned that if this incident is allowed to slide, how many more folks will take the law into their own hands and start executing folk for offenses that are usually not punishable by death.
AJ you are certainly right, and it’s an abuse of the system. I think Sean Taylor’s death has me a little edgy…
