How can this happen with the U.S. Secret Service protecting the front-runner of the Democratic Party and why was it reported in the media? I’m sure goofs are made all the time, but I don’t recall hearing of any lapses in security with any other high-profile personalities. It would seem if you were PROTECTING someone this type of information would be kept confidential and the media would have the decency to censor themselves.

Police concerned about order to stop screening
By JACK DOUGLAS Jr.
Star-Telegram Staff WriterPolice were told to stop screening people for weapons before the rally began.
DALLAS — Security details at Barack Obama’s rally Wednesday stopped screening people for weapons at the front gates more than an hour before the Democratic presidential candidate took the stage at Reunion Arena.
The order to put down the metal detectors and stop checking purses and laptop bags came as a surprise to several Dallas police officers who said they believed it was a lapse in security…
Several Dallas police officers said it worried them that the arena was packed with people who got in without even a cursory inspection.
They spoke on condition of anonymity because, they said, the order was made by federal officials who were in charge of security at the event…

Say what? I agree with you. Why and why?
I’ve had too many black people tell me they’re voting for Hillary because they don’t want Obama to win be assassinated.
This plays right into the fear factor.
This is PAST ridiculous….are they sending code messages or something. I’d like to know WHO gave this order.
Isn’t Dallas famous for some other major-league f-up involving security for a prominent Democrat? Oh yeah, JFK. I just recently saw a video of secret service guys being pulled away from JFK’s limo that fateful day. I guess the stooges are still in place there to “take care of” any security lapses.
All I have to say is the secret service isn’t the friend to the black man. It’s their job to protect Obama. I’d say that right now Obama is probably the most loved and hated man in America. If you ask me, I think someone higher up was hoping that a JFK or RFK would happen.
Considering our government, sadly I must say that I am not surprised.
First of all, I’m GLAD it’s public info. The security lapse was due to a direct order by “federal officials who were in charge of security at the event.” Now, if it was due to some fool lackey forgetting to check the bags, then yes you dont mention this in public and you discretely either re-assign or fire the fool who caused the lapse.
But when the lapse is due to someone high up deliberately undermining the security of the top democrat contender, then something is very fishy. This problem WONT go away until enough people make a huge stink of it.. and that wont happen if this incident is quietly swept under the rug, whistling innocently and pretending nothing happened. Honestly, I think the person who made this public did so hoping that we the public would complain about this undermining of Obama’s security. So let’s do it!
Chubb, I see your point. I’m just afraid this will signal some extremist to the fact that some in the Secret Service may be “lax” in protecting him ON PURPOSE. Seems those within the campaign and a select few of others in the democratic party in high places should have been made aware of the issue.
Based on the events of the last 7 years, the government has demonstrated that it really doesn’t care WHAT the citizens think – so I’m not sure our knowledge of this event matters much. Case in point Katrina. They willfully allowed those people to suffer and die on national television and we ordinary citizens were powerless to do anything to force the government to PROTECT a whole city.
I can just tell you, I was at the Clinton campaign rally when it came to my alma mater, Tennessee State, the night of the South Carolina loss; and it was quite unsecure too.
I didn’t even pre-credential for the event, I just flipped the cop at the press door a laminated press pass that he didn’t even bother to examine at all, and walked right in.
At one point I was coming in and out, and there was NO security/police/secrete service at the press door at all.
@Yobachi – Considering the Bush administration is in charge of federal operations, I’m not surprised by the lax protection both of these democratic candidates are getting.
It’s very unlike the secret service to have accept such a great lapse, but what would they ve done considerind it was from the top where they don’t ve a say.
It’s so so indicting n disdaining to the secret service, whom are known to be the best inthe world.
Such a great lapse for a presidential runing not even to the governorship level, but the president to be!
God it’s all bull shit…….
