5 Year Old Burns Down Grandma’s House

Something about this story is off to me. It seems a 5 year old was angry that his grandmother punished him and retaliated by making good on a threat to burn the house down. Why is it that a 5 year old has the mentality to “burn something down” in the first place? Sad, sad story.

A 5-year-old was critically injured in a Brooklyn fire he set Monday as revenge for being punished by his grandmother, police and fire sources said.

Jay (Tito) Morales suffered third-degree burns to 70% of his body after he used a lighter to ignite the curtains in Nancy Herrera’s Bushwick home, fire sources said. Herrera, 63, suffered minor injuries.

“It’s all about revenge,” a source said. “What’s scary is he thought of this and he is only 5.”

  1. That’s truly SCARY!! When teens bring guns to school. that’s scary. When 5 yr olds set fires, that’s SCARY!! Peace.

  2. Five years old? This is too much… The car and the Wal-Mart incident with that dude… and now five year old fire starters.

  3. Yeah, it’s like we’re living in an alternate universe or something. It seems the children feel there are consequences to their actions at very young ages. SMDH.

  4. Parents just aren’t parents anymore. I hope this boy wasn’t being raised by his grandmother, too. I’m so tired of absentee parenting. Grandparents should not be raising kids, although some have done a great job, it’s not their job to raise their kids’ kids.

I don’t know what has gotten into this kid, but I think he’s learned his lesson.

  5. who taught this little bamma how to use matches? maybe he someone around the way lightin’ a crack pipe. either way, these stories are getting more disturbing by the day. what’s next…i don’t even want to think about it.

  6. :/ my name is jay morales

  7. Is this dumbass still alive? Rumor has it, it died from it’s burns.

  8. Children at 5 do have minds of their own. Some have distinct personalities and can be aggressive and angry. But, he is still innocent and really doesn’t understand the extent of his actions.

  9. Wow, Fred wishing death on a child. That pretty low!

  10. I agree – Fred surely you don’t wish death on a confused child – if so – you should seek help immediately.
