I’m not even going to comment on this story:
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A man says he was so consumed by the spirit of God that he fell and hit his head while worshipping.
Now he wants Lakewind Church to pay $2.5 million for medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering.
Matt Lincoln says he is suing after the church’s insurance company denied his claim for medical bills.
The 57-year-old has had two surgeries since the June 2007 injury but still feels pain in his back and legs.
He says he was asking God to have “a real experience” while praying.
Lincoln says he has fallen from the force of the spirit before but has always been caught by someone.
Lawyers for the church say other congregants saw him on the floor laughing after his fall. They say he failed to look out for his own safety.

Ha Ha! That’s funny! Too bad he didn’t hear the Spirit telling him he shouldn’t sue the church!
Lawyers, this man’s claim has no merit. The Spirit of GOD will never allow you to fall and cause an injury. This man fell on his own. So many people get caught up in the thought of being slain in the Spirit because it looks like something. This man has an idea of what it looks like but he failed to get saved and receive the POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST. Sir, (plaintiff) you clearly have no idea what power you are dealing with. You won’t win this lawsuit. I’d also advise the plaintiff’s counsel to pull back as well. You are about to lose everything. Matthew 15:14 “Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” The plaintiff needs to be saved.
He should ask the Holy Spirit for healing and not the Church’s insurance for money.
In the church where I grew up we had a certain someone who would “fake the spirit” until he hit his head on one of the wooden pews. From that point on he made certain to fall out in the spirit in the middle of the aisles….Go figure!! LOL
That’s happening more and more often now….suing God’s bride…the Church.
my neck! my back! my neck and my back! lol! catchin’ that holy ghost is gonna be the death of some folks. sometimes i pays just to sit there in your sit and cry because you are moved by the spirit as opposed to gettin’ up, dancin’ around, and then splittin’ your wig open. smh!
I once heard of a dude that “got happy” and started running around the church. He then attempted to run thru the doors of the church thinking they were swing doors…..they were actually pocket doors and he knocked himself out………..LOL.
All that caught in the spirit stuff isn’t real anyway.
What spirit will make you act like a fool and jump around like a Clown. that wouldn’t be GOD’s spirit for sure.
for the spirit of GOD would open your mind and insight you to fine works. Noe Tarzan swig from the vines actions.
The Black church has become a house of monkey’s and hustlers.
Just my thought
Someone should ask if this is the same Matt Lincoln that was working as an extra on the Hannah Montana Movie in Columbia, TN, June 19 and 20, 2008, just a few days after his accident. He did not seem to have any problems getting around then!
Sorry, it was a year after his accident that he may have been working on the Hannah Montana movie set in Columbia, TN.
I read some of the replies to this article and decided to post.
I, too, had a similar experience.
I’m not here to argue the legitimacy of the Holy Spirit. I am here to say that incidents like this do happen.
I experienced a really bad fall at the altar of my church where I too fell back and hit my head on a concrete floor. I heard my neck crack and since then, now 1 year later, I still have neck problems. But worse than that…. I get EXCRUCIATING headaches that can last for days at time. The blinding kind of headache that makes me cry. I have pushed back thoughts of seeking anything from the church, however, they were negligent.
The realities are that if this had happened in any other venue most would argue pursuing it in court!
And, yes while I know God to be a Healer. there is possibility that He may not choose to heal me from this… instead give me the grace to endure it.
I’m really struggling with in because the reality is that I may have these problems for the rest of my life, I’m 37.
Shouldn’t someone be accountable?
