Martial Law Coming to a City Near You?
Crime has become so bad in Helena, Arkansas that the mayor has imposed a curfew in certain parts of the city for ALL RESIDENTS. I applaud the brother for stepping up and doing something to curtail the violence but hope a better solution can be found soon. House Arrest for ALL Citizens at all times?
Is this something that will coming to other U.S. cities?
Read more the this article entitled “Go Home or go to Jail! Helena – West Helena Implements Curfew for All Ages.”
Snippet:
The curfew is in place for an area he refers to as a “hot spot” for crime. It applies to anyone, any age, and any time of day.

Well Mayor Valley you have just put your name in the history books. Hopefully not for violating civil rights but for saving lives. We need a mayor such as yourself here in Chicago. Im sure crime in Helena is nothing like it is here. Since the begining of summer vacation we have lost over 20 children to gun violence and no one here seems to know what to do. Maybe if we had martial law, maybe these children would still be alive.
Thank You Mayor Valley for saving lives. . .
I commend Mayor Valley for taking a bold stance to protect the citizens of his city. I live in Little Rock and would love to see a statewide call-to-action. You have a handful of people saying it’s not fair that the curfew is imposed and that they feel like prisoners in their own homes. So I guess it makes no difference how long the law-abiding residents had to be prisoners in their own homes, huh? Regardless of violating their civil liberties, it’s about saving lives and restoring order.
The fact that all of these bleeding hearts, attorneys and civil liberties activist want to turn protecting innocent citizens into their own fiasco should be forced to live on those streets! Don’t you just love our litigous society and how everyone refers back to the constitution when it suits their agenda.
I love it when thugs and drug dealers get a taste of their own medicine. You are nothing more than the most worthless plight upon your cities and communities. Guess you realize now who really runs things there. Go Mayor Valley! You creat all the history you want!
Good for you Mayor Valley. Police need to take back our cities from these hell raising young people. They should be made to go to war if they don’t have a job.
Forgive a murderer? Even God created hell for those people. Only a true repentant should be forgiven. Some of these families think they are more holy than God. They want the world to say, “Oh, look at the wonderful forgiving family.” Makes me sick!
I listen to the rally call for police, martial law, national guard and the rest. Where are the parents, the citizens that have been under threat for so long, the city council, etc to have addressed this problem long before. This isn’t something new to any area of the United States. When double standards are practiced in law (Oliver North for bringing crack into the neighborhoods, who was pardoned by President Reagan, who okayed the spread of crack throughout the nation); what is to be expected from those business people that see a quick buck.
All those giving praises to the mayor, (doing what he thought was right), you have opened a door, where this behavior will be accepted for any and everything, (i.e. racial profiling, which is now accepted and a part of national security).
We have to think about what it is that we want not just for ourselves, but what our children will have to live with, because we refused to fight for the right thing when it was just starting.
Fianlly. A mayor with courage. You are ahead of the curve mayor, don’t let the press or the ACLU villify you for being strong enough to say no to the criminals trying to destroy our country!
By the way, Aaron, what ever are you babbling about?
Suibne, to make it clear for you, when you start putting curfews on portion of the city, you open the door for this to happen in other areas, this being the precedent. When the public becomes used to behavior like this, martial law will be accepted without question. Hopefully I have answered your question in a way that you can understand. For historical evidence, seek information about Tulsa, OK.
And I quote… “some infringement on constitutional rights is OK” – Mayer James Valley.
What? Did I hear that right?
When does it end? How much, exactly, is “O.K.?”
Oh what have we come to. If the justice system would punish criminals, then we wouldn’t need curfews and police blockades.
The ACLU, who has cried, “FOUL,” in this matter is the same bunch of liberals who decry the deeath penalty and want rights for criminals.
Shame on everyone- the ACLU, the criminals, a cowardly police department, and a mayor who defiles the U.S. Constitution.
Badbart. It ends when the criminals are off the street.
Aaron. Your lollipop theory of the domino theory is tired and useless. It seems liberals only invoke it when crime is involved, never when the Russians or Iranians are setting up to push the domino table over completely. Here’s a domino theory for you…..Hollywood has turned the country into a Garbage dump exposing our children to filth 24-7 who in turn become the criminals we are talking about. It might be time to shut them down completely. Oh, no dominos there?
Repeat Message: Mayor Valley. Don’t let them change the conversation to political crap. You are doing what every mayor in the country should be doing. When there is no respect for the law, the law should be enforced with fervor. If not, anarchy shortly follows. And anarchy is coming to a town near you!
Adios!
Anyone ever read this
Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
I wonder why our forfathers put this in the constitution.
Did you read the part that said “shall not be violated” or “right of the people peaceably to assemble”
This is not a joke people.I dont like crime anymore than the next person but we cannot allow ourselves to set precedent that will throw away the only things that seperate us from being a communist state or a police state and that is the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
We had an issue like this in Indianapolis where the police where stopping cars at the off ramps from the highways in some bad neighborhoods in Indy. The courts said they had to stop doing this in part because they only targeted poor areas of town and of course it was unconstitutional.
Your Mayor took an oarth to uphold the constitution of the united states of america. He should be fired for not doing so.If that means I am liberal so be it.
Tim,
I forgive you for not being able to feel apathy and just not knowing whats really going on. If you knew you would know that in some areas of the United States people cant go outside due to fear of loosing their life. I can tell you have never had that fear.
So, in my book that makes you naive. Its obvious that Mayor Valley is a man of action and should be put on a short list for the Nobel Peace Prize and you would agree if you knew anything about the truth of the matter. If things were like they are now at the time the constitution was written, it would be a time of war. There are more American Citizens dying on the streets of our cities than Soliders in Afganastand and Iraq combined. . .
Do you understand
Can you understand
Will you ever understand
And Tim Liberals always think first.
Seriously, are all of you people government agents? What the F are you talking about! It matters not if there is crime, rights are forever, universal, and guaranteed. If the Mayor has trouble he should ask for help from the National Guard. He should not be authorized to declare Martial Law.
If it is so bad, the citizens should be stepping up and helping law enforcement. Most of these communities live in fear of the criminals and all you have done now is made them live in fear of the cops. Neighborhood watches, rewards for tips, and downright being a responsible citizen would clean that place up real quick.

Why don’t you all learn what your fathers and forefathers fought and died for? You make me sick.

E HOUSE
I live in indianapolis.Where you can obtain a gun permit I have one and have a pistol (9 mm) to defend my self if needed. If my neighorhood started to go to the shits I would do what you should do as a Citizens thats to step up and take your neighborhood back.Do you know as a Citizens you have the right to arrest anybody who is commiting a feloney. Thus You could work along side your neighbors and Law enforcement and get the job done. While our government is there to help us they can not and should not take care of all our needs.Of course E house I expect by tour recent posts your lazy and want others to solve your problems.People like you are the reason our kids and grandkids will not have the freedom that past generations have fought and died for.And I would die for also.
