Attacked Over Tip or Lack there of?

Why is it that some folk beleive they are entitled to a tip even when they provide subpar service?  I’m notorious for not tipping piss-poor waiters, etc.  as I’ve always felt my tip was directly corrolated to the service provided.  Well apparently those that have the same mentality I have with regards to this issue better watch out.  A cab driver went ballistic and attacked a customer because she did not leave him a tip after he was rude to her.

An Austin cabbie is charged with robbing one of his customer, for not tipping him. Sharon Hernandez Daro says Tuesday afternoon her 10 minute ride to the UT campus felt like hours because the driver – Whyte Awala – she claims was very rude to her.

The total ride cost $6 and she paid with her credit card. She waited to get out of the cab before handing the signed slip back to Awala because instead of adding a tip she wrote “No Tip-Very Rude”.

It was then Awala allegedly got out of the cab and came after her, tearing her coat off before driving away. Awala was arrested a short time later and is now facing felony robbery charges.

  1. That ain’t right! He was certainly having a bad day or going through something more serious.

His anger was probably fueled by the fact that she used a credit card instead of cash. Who knows but that seems very possible.
