Tasered AFTER Surrenduring?

Is tasering folk now standard operating procedure even when the suspect surrenders?

Did you notice how excited the news casters of FAUX news where at the sight of this fool getting tasered.  Our society has become insane.

  1. It seems improper because the Use of Force training requires that the suspect be given the opportunity to respond to verbal commands. The suspect appeared to be in the process of surrendering, but he hadn’t stopped moving away completely, and he may not have responded to the first officer’s commands (for example, we couldn’t hear if the officer told him to get on the ground). My personal opinion is that if not totally out of line, the officer was at least somewhat premature in using the taser. It seemed more of a “BANG…, Halt or I’ll shoot” moment.

  2. Why am I unfortunately not surprised at the above response.

    Anyway, AJ, I’m starting to believe that all we did be taking away the baton(sorta) and replacing it with the taser is give the cops the opportunity to be abusive from further distance; and to have a greater excuse for the brutality by claiming the tasers are so safe, and non-damaging.

    Plus it doesn’t require them to exert themselves the way swinging a club does. Doesn’t look necessarily as brutal, even if is.

    We’ve created a monster.

  3. I know there is a lot of controversy with tasing and its purpose though meant to assist in arresting and apprehending folk who are a threat could be abusive in the wrong hands.

    Still, the audio disclosed that this man robbed someone. Did he have a weapon on him? We can’t assume that he didn’t while he was escaping the police on foot in traffic no less.

    That’s my view…
